Screaming Halt

As Davey Hamilton’s success increased, his wife tried hard to keep the family together. However, once their second child was born, Davey suddenly found himself traveling the world alone, living the “rock star life” and all the trappings that came along with it.

Finally, this “freedom” caught up with him and one fateful day he was served with divorce papers – just hours before a big race. Davey was running right behind Jeret Schroder, hitting speeds of up to 217 mph. As they made that last turn, what happened next, is now forever burned into Indy Car Racing History. Jeret’s engine let go, spraying oil all over the track. Davey had no chance. His tires hit the oil; he lost control, hit the back of Jeret’s car and slammed at 207 miles per hour into the wall. People all over the world could only watch in horror as his car went airborne, split apart and careened across the track. The injuries to his feet were catastrophic but he was alive and in a split second, Davey Hamilton’s life had come to a “SCREAMING HALT.” Now what?

A first time ever surgery was performed that saved his feet, however he was now to live a life confined to a wheelchair. Not only crippled physically and emotionally, but spiritually as well. Although his wife remained supportive, their divorce was granted, killing what remained of his spirit. 

God had been talking to Davey for a long time, only he hadn’t been listening, so he got his attention another way. Over the next few years, Davey fought to walk again, get his family back and restore his faith. He and God argued a little, but in the end he heard what He was saying and today, his faith is stronger than ever.

“SCREAMING HALT” will follow Davey from the crash, through his amazing rehabilitation physically, emotionally and spiritually to the incredible INDY 500 comeback and the successful career he enjoys today. Audiences around the world will be moved and encouraged by seeing that as Davey made it though his challenges, so they can too with the help of their faith and trust in God.
